Organization
The coordination of the entire process is done by the office or agency closest
to the originating or customer location at its destination counterpart.
The company has two regional offices in USA: Miami, and San Juan, Puerto Rico
headquarters. Every domestic customer is exclusively attended by one of these
offices. International traffic, which does not involve the United States or Puerto
Rico, is managed separately from our South Florida office. In addition, a network
of local and independently owned agencies covers every country in Latin
America and the Caribbean.
Every customer is attended exclusively by one of our offices.
Operations
The initial step is to determine the type of intermodal tank to be used for
a specific service. The concept of strict dedication is then explored.
Next, inland and marine logistics are selected. Key considerations to minimize
costs and risks are:
-
Direct loading (trucking) vs. transfer stations (rail tanks).
-
Loading requirements.
-
Steamship lines, port rotation, sailing frequency, hazardous cargo handling
capabilities.
-
Time required by the importer to clear customs.
-
Specifications and exclusions.
-
Destination storage capabilities.
-
Unload and return the equipment to the port.
-
Equipment relocation.
A trans-regional agency in Antwerp, Belgium oversees traffic between the Americas
and Europe. The entire organization is interconnected via Internet. The
whole logistics definition process is driven by the resulting door-door unit
cost (USD per lb., metric ton, gallon or liter), safety and reliability.
The coordination of the entire process is done by the office or agency responsible
to the customer and its destination counterpart.
The San Juan headquarters, where a single, all-inclusive invoice is generated
for the customer, pays all subcontracted services. Flexitank also offers its
extensive intermodal capabilities to manage proprietary tank fleets.
